About Barbara Bergeron
Business Experience
Barbara Bergeron is an independent business owner in Chester County. She founded SOS Organizational Services, a productivity training company, 15 years ago and built it into a nationally recognized consulting firm with clients around the country and throughout the Philadelphia region.
Barbara has a long track record of success helping businesses of all types and sizes reduce their costs and improve their operations. She passionately believes that we need to apply the same common-sense business practices to state government. If elected, Barbara will work hard to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of Pennsylvania’s government, resulting in institutions that will respond to the needs of our citizens with fairness and fiscal responsibility.
Community Service
While growing her business, Barbara has also volunteered her time and training expertise, providing pro bono consulting work and seminars to numerous non-profit organizations. Barbara worked with Bridges, a Philadelphia organization that provides jobs and training to at-risk high school seniors; ChADD, a support group for children and adults with attention deficit disorder; and an assortment of women’s groups, such as the Women’s Referral Network. With Barbara’s help these organizations streamlined their business practices so they could focus more of their resources on helping the people they serve.
Not only has Barbara been recognized nationally for her consulting work, but she has also become a prominent leader among professionals within her field. She has served two terms on the national board of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO), based in Glenview, Ill, and she is a former president and long-time board member of the local chapter of NAPO.
Early Years
Growing up, Barbara learned early on the importance of hard work and community service. Her mother, Virginia, founded Jennye’s Equestrian School, a non-profit horseback riding school for children with special needs. The whole family, including Barbara and her brother, Jeff, helped run the school, caring for the horses and working with the children. Barbara’s father, George, served as a firefighter for the city of Indianapolis for 37 years, and for most of those years he also served as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
Education & Family
Barbara graduated from Ball State University with a bachelor of science in secondary education, with areas of concentration in government, U.S. history and world history. She has lived in Chester County for 23 years with her husband, Al, their son, Nicholas, who attends Downingtown East High School and their two fox terriers, Molly and Allie.
